Christopher Wainwright is sole director of the South Australian communications, marketing and management company, Christopher Wainwright & Associates. Founded in 1998, they primarily provide arts marketing and publicity services to leading Australian classical and jazz musicians and presenters. Some of the organisations and individuals they have worked with include: Musica Viva Australia, the Australian Chamber Orchestra, the Australian Youth Orchestra, Goethe Institut Inter Nationes, Dutch fortepianist, Bart van Oort, recorder virtuoso, Genevieve Lacey, flautists, Paul Edmund-Davies and Elizabeth Koch and pianist and accompanist, Phillip Moll. Their current clients include: Adelaide Baroque, Accompanists’ Guild of South Australia, jazz-pianist and composer, Mark Isaacs and Adelaide chamber music presenter, Recitals Australia. Christopher brings a rather rare blend of musical and management expertise to his business. In late 2001, Christopher graduated from the University of Adelaide’s Elder Conservatorium of Music with a 1st class Bachelor of Music, Honours degree in Musicology and with a Graduate Diploma in Management (Arts) from the University of South Australia. He is currently completing a Masters degree in Management (Arts) at the University of South Australia. From 1996 to 2004, he worked as a volunteer classical music radio producer and as a freelance arts journalist. In 2002, the Helpmann Academy and Arts SA awarded him a lengthy mentorship with Dr Graham Strahle who writes for The Australian and The Adelaide Review. This led to regular work as a professional journalist writing feature articles regularly published by Arts Hub Australia, State of the Arts and the Australian Financial Review. Christopher also works as a business journalist writing about corporate social responsibility issues for Our Community and Deloitte Australia’s quarterly newsletter, Business Community Intelligence.
