Giridhar Tirumalai
Giridhar Tirumalai PhD started learning Indian Classical vocal and flute at a very young age of 5. He teaches flute and vocal – on a regular basis in Sydney , covering both technical and composition aspects of music. Each year he conducts “The Great Indian Vaageykaara Series” encouraging young and upcoming local talent to sing compositions of various vaaggeyakaara (“www.carnatic.has.it). He has played in Bangalore India, San Jose CA, Denver CO, Salem OR, Portland OR, Sydney Australia, Canberra , Melbourne. Giridhar was felicitated by Sydney Music Circle in year 2005. He has provided flute support to artistes in Australia and USA. While Giridhar already has got PhD in the field computer science, he continues to do research in various aspects of music that includes music & stress management, music & self management, music & productivity gains etc. He has also provided flute support on a number of Indian opera themes. Giridhar is a member of Australian Flute Society. He has provided instrumental ensemble at Sydney Music Circle functions. He has also provided flute support to Sydney SBS Radio Kannada Program and has been involved in raising funds through music. He has a number of white papers of discussion nature on Classical music that covers both concert contents and those that go beyond just the concert platforms – raising thought provoking topics on issues such as “Music into mainstream of society”,” Music and self management” , “Matrix of Global music mapping” etc. He works at IBM in Sydney.
