Philip Johnston - Author of "The Practice Revolution"

Philip_johnston

Philip Johnston is best known for his writings about practicing, with his books The Practice Revolution and Practiceopedia featured prominently on the shelves of teaching studios and practice rooms throughout the world. He has recorded for Warner Music as a concert pianist in his own right, but as a student was kicked out by no fewer than six violin teachers, making him uniquely qualified to write about practicing, because he knows what it’s like to practice badly. Philip completed his postgraduate studies in piano performance at Bloomington IU, composes for Alfred Publishing, and he currently runs one of Australia’s largest private piano teaching studios. His website at www.practicespot.com is the world’s largest information and resource website for music teachers and students, attracting millions of hits from studios around the world every month. Philip lives in Canberra, Australia, and is married with three kids. He is one of the few people at this conference who has never played a flute.
